Global Expertise & Impact
Inclusive & Sustainable FinTech
Over the last decade, members of the CCAF Global team have produced high impact [applied] research to understand the state of national, regional and global Fintech markets and identify the potential for financial innovation to improve access to finance for consumers and MSMEs in emerging markets and developing countries. This research has also focused on how innovative financial channels, instruments and systems can mobilise financial capital to finance the transition to a green economy and contribute to the sustainability of the digital finance ecosystem.
Digital Assets & Digital Economy
CCAF Global draws on deep expertise and insight into the adoption of distributed ledger technology from a team who have published some of the most ground-breaking and influential studies charting the rise of decentralised finance and token-based economy, the development of enterprise blockchain, the emergence of new digital money and the evolving landscape of cryptoasset regulation. In 2017, CCAF Global researchers and experts worked with both public and private sector stakeholders and research affiliates to create the world’s first global cryptocurrency industry benchmarking study examining centralised exchange, payment, custody and mining intermediaries and their activities and published one of the first reports on the development of permissioned enterprise blockchains. The research team also created a widely cited conceptual paper to discern distributed ledger technology (DLT) systems and one of world’s first studies to examine digital assets from a private law perspective.
The CCAF Global researchers have collaborated with more than 5,000 FinTechs and 200 industry associations in more than 190 jurisdictions to collect and analyse empirical data to inform strategic market development and evidence-based regulation and policy making. Collectively, experts at the CCAF Global have published more than 30 widely referenced FinTech market research studies as well as a suite of interactive and open-access digital tools to visualise industry data and effectively disseminate research findings.
CCAF Global experts conceived and produce the creation of the Cambridge Bitcoin Electricity Consumption Index (CBECI), providing a highly influential evidence-base to facilitate informed discussion about the sustainability of digital assets. The CCAF global experts were also instrumental in creating the Cambridge Digital Assets for Regulator (CDAR) online executive education programme.
