Hatim Hussain
Digital Asset Regulatory Specialist
Hatim is a Research Affiliate of the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF) at Cambridge Judge Business School, University of Cambridge. For Fii, he leads on the execution of technical assistance projects and research initiatives in the digital assets practice.
With a background in law and finance, Hatim previously worked as a lawyer with Trilegal in India and advised on fintech, data protection, artificial intelligence, e-commerce, gaming, and telecom matters. He has also served on several senior management roles - most recently as Head of Quality with Reg Genome, a regulatory intelligence company; and as Chief Risk and Legal Officer (CRO/CLO) and Global MLRO with nsave, a Swiss fintech providing offshore banking in highly distressed economies. He has worked extensively in various capacities with the International Monetary Fund, Boldly Go Philanthropy, United Nations Development Programme and Centre for Long Term Resilience.
Hatim is currently pursuing a PhD in Law at the University of Oxford, with a Rhodes Scholarship. Prior to pursuing doctoral studies, Hatim read for a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) at the University of Oxford and a Masters in Management Sciences (MMSc) at Tsinghua University, China, on a Schwarzman Scholarship. He also holds dual degrees in commerce and law from Gujarat National Law University, India (B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.), where he graduated with several gold medals. Hatim serves as an Adjunct Professor to various law schools in India, specialising at the intersection of law, finance and technology.
